Alison Halliday
Alison Halliday is Professor of Vascular Surgery and Honorary Consultant Vascular Surgeon, Oxford University Hospitals. She is the Lead Researcher in the ACST Trials and is the Immediate Past President of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS). Her research work has contributed to NICE and to National and International Stroke Guidelines. She is co-author of the ESVS European Guidelines Committee for Extracranial Vascular Disease and the upcoming European Society for Cardiology (ESC) Dyslipidaemia Guidelines and is a member of the ESC Council on Stroke.

Artūras Mackevičius
In 1999 he graduated the Vilnius University, Medical Faculty. In 2005 he graduated the Vilnius University residency in vascular surgery. Since 2005 he has been working as a vascular surgeon in the Republican Vilnius University hospital and private hospital Kardiolitos Clinics. Mackevičius is the president of the Lithuania Endovascular Specialists Association and a member of the Lithuania Society for Vascular Surgery. |

Dalius Jatužis Dalius Jatužis, MD, PhD, prof. received his medical degree (1985-1991), neurology training (1991-1995) and PhD degree („Intracranial circulation and clinical findings in patients with carotid occlusive disease“, 1999) at Vilnius University in Lithuania. D. Jatužis had several postdoctoral fellowships in neurology and clinical physiology in USA, Sweden, Austria. His current research interests involve cerebrovascular disease, stroke management and cerebrovascular ultrasound. |

Ellisiv B Mathiesen
Ellisiv B Mathiesen is Professor of Neurology at the University of Tromsø and Senior Consultant at the University Hospital of North Norway in Tromsø, Norway. Her research interests involve stroke treatment and management, epidemiology of stroke and carotid and intracranial atherosclerosis, and cerebrovascular ultrasound. She is currently Trial Coordinating Investigator of the Tenecteplase in Wake-up Ischaemic Stroke Trial (TWIST). |

Heli Järve
Heli Järve has been working as a vascular surgeon since 2006, after graduation of the University of Tartu Medical Faculty and residency in cardiovascular surgery. Carotid surgery is a very interesting field in vascular surgery, also well researched already. Despite this, there are many questions needing to be answered and discussed together with other specialities. |

Richard Bulbulia
Richard studied medicine at Cambridge University and The Royal London Hospital, graduating in 1994. Following surgical training in London, Oxford, and the South West of England, he was appointed to his consultant post in 2009. Richard combines clinical work in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (UK) with research at the MRC Population Health Research Unit (PHRU) and Clinical Trial Service Unit (CTSU), University of Oxford, which conducts internationally renowned research into medical treatments and the factors affecting population health worldwide, with a history of high-impact results. He is Co-PI of ACST-2, a large international randomised trial comparing carotid endarterectomy versus carotid artery stenting in asymptomatic carotid artery disease. His academic interests also centre around the design, conduct and analyses of large randomised trials and include the use of lipid-lowering and anti-thrombotic therapy to reduce vascular risk. |

Riina Vibo
Riina Vibo is working as a full-time neurologist at Tartu University Hospital. Being also a research fellow at the University of Tartu, her main interests are young stroke and stroke epidemiology. She is actively involved in the Estonian Stroke Initiative Group and in the Nordic Stroke Society. |

Sulev Margus
Dr Margus has worked as an interventional cardiologist for the last 20 years at the Tartu University Hospital and for the last 15 years at the East Tallinn Central Hospital. He has much experience in carotid artery stenting and thrombectomy of cerebral arteries. At the East Tallinn Central Hospital he is also involved in the ACST-2 research. |
