Welcome

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the joint seminar of the Estonian Ludvig Puusepp Society of Neurologists and Neurosurgeons and the Estonian Society for Vascular Surgeons Carotid Stenosis: From Silent Atherosclerosis to Symptoms. The event will take place on April 5, 2019, at the VSpa Conference Centre in Tartu, Estonia. The seminar is supported by the Tartu University Hospital and the University of Tartu.

The main topics covered are are asymptomatic and symptomatic carotid stenosis; approaches to intracranial stenosis; medication and surgical treatment.

The invited speakers are Prof. Alison Halliday and Dr. Richard Bulbulia (Oxford, UK), Prof. Martin Björck (Uppsala, Sweden), Prof. Dalius Jatužis (Vilnius, Lithuania) and Prof. Ellisiv Mathiesen (Tromsø, Norway).

Atherosclerosis is a very common disease in the population and the carotid stenosis developing from that is an important risk factor for ischemic stroke. This is an interdisciplinary medical issue demanding the cooperation of specialists from different fields. This joint conference will provide a good opportunity to discuss the principles underlying the approaches to carotid stenosis in different fields and to unify the conceptions in this area.

The working language of the conference is English.

Yours sincerely,

Pille Taba
